But we still in the dark cuz they ain’t shinin it right
I’m shinin it bright- like the moon shine in the night
Cuz ignorance and hatred’s what I’m rhymin to fight
We climbin to heights- previously unattainable
And makin positive change that’s sustainable
Promotin peace in the land
Provin hip hop and social justice go hand in hand
Understand?- or is this over your head?
Should I start rappin bout bustin gats instead?
But naw- that ain’t me- I can’t take that route
I’m diggin in the batter’s box
and I can’t make that out
Cuz I’m tryin to take action in this Field of Dreams
Against a system of oppression,
shady deals and schemes
Every day another victim, I can feel the screams
But I’m shinin like the sun-
so you can feel the beams

A lotta cats killin hip hop like it’s murder
But I extend the verbal life preserver
Strive to nurture through the words that I speak
The keys to life ain’t something you can learn in a week
It takes time- my mind’s expanding day by day
I’m tryin to shine- my light’s expanding ray by ray
Cuz I see the youth need a little inspiration
Beyond the mass media infiltration
Young MCs try to fit an image
And they end up nothin but a spittin image
Based on the negative and stereotypical
This whole situation is scarily cyclical
But we break down walls and find the ties that bind
Unite to shine light- exercise the mind
In time- this Eclectic Movement gon take control
And we all gon Shine our Collective Soul
